Here you can find my free writes during the semester. I will also give brief descriptions below to provide context!

#1 – ‘The Truman Show’
This is self-explanatory, but I basically watched The Truman Show the night before class and it was fresh on my mind the next day. I started thinking about what if I was in my own show and if people would even tune in. This was such an interesting topic to me that I wrote my Narrative Essay about it!

#2 – ‘Soulmates’
I have always been fascinated by the concept of Soulmates and how there could possibly be someone out there that you’re pre-determined to be destined for before you’re even born. I also had watched The Good Place the night before class which includes the concept of soulmates even in the afterlife. So, I wrote a little bit about soulmates and how I view them!

#3 – ‘Olivia’
This is a poem I wrote about two years ago about my best friend Olivia, who took her own life. We were friends since third grade and inseparable to the point that even our parents were tired of us. She was my soulmate, no doubt about it, but she was struggling and I couldn’t even see it. I blamed myself for a few months but ultimately realized that it was no one’s fault but society that had failed her. I revised this poem during one of the free writes, and this is the final product!

#4 – ‘Funeral’
I wrote this poem after my great grandmother’s funeral, which was a few years ago. She used to call me her ‘star’, so when she passed I bought and named a star after her called ‘Genevieve’ (her name) and now she’s my star. I revised this a bit during class to be more sophisticated and up to my level now.
