Do you need to catch up or get ahead on credits? Winter courses are a perfect way to do that from the comfort of your home!
This year, winter courses will run from Dec. 27, 2021 through Jan. 17, 2022.
Here are some important dates that are coming up.
Oct. 25 – Nov. 19 – Declaration Moratorium. Students cannot declare a major or minor during this time. This is a campus-wide policy. If you need to declare your major in order to register for spring ’21 courses, you must declare before Oct. 25.
Oct. 29 – Last day for course withdrawal.
Dec. 6 – Last day to elect Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory option
Remember to always check the Academic Calendar for important dates and deadlines.
Our department is requiring all students to use My Schedule Planner, found in my.newpaltz.edu under “Registration.” This tool will help you make your schedule and have a plan, with second- and third-choice courses and sections in case your preferred classes fill up before your time assignment. Use this tool to thoroughly prepare a schedule and several backups before you meet with your advisor.

Summer courses are a great way to catch up or get ahead with credits. Some summer courses are offered online, which means that you can complete them from anywhere you have internet service, but some production courses are being taught on campus. Meet with your advisor remotely (Zoom, Webex, BB Collaborate, phone, etc.) to go over your Fall schedule and discuss your progress toward graduation. Don’t forget to use My Schedule Planner to design your preferred schedule for next semester.
Now that the Fall 2021 schedule of classes is posted, you should be setting up an appointment to meet virtually with your major advisor. You must meet with your major advisor in order to be cleared to register. Before your meeting, make sure to have a draft schedule made in My Schedule Planner (accessed through my.newpaltz.edu) and have your progress report on hand. Don’t wait to set up your meeting!
