Content Manager Intern Needed for New Paltz for Refugees

New Paltz for Refugees ( is a grassroots, volunteer, non-profit group working with other agencies and NGOs to resettle those in need to our New York State, Hudson Valley community. The organization seeks an intern candidate for the role of “Content Write and Manager” to work eight hours per week during the Spring 2022 semester.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in the subject of humanitarian aid, social justice and global social issues. The candidate is required to be proficient in reporting and writing as well as possess strong interpersonal relationship skills. Candidates will need to work independently, but also participate in team meetings and projects.

The position requires participants to be proficient in social media content ideation, creation and posting, and website content writing. The Content Writer and Manager will also be responsible for reporting and writing one feature story per month on a topic agreed upon with the organization’s media coordinator. The position reports to the media coordinator.

Expected student learning outcomes would include, but not be limited to, gaining knowledge and real-world experience in:

  • Managing, producing, writing, and posting content to the organization’s social media channels each week
  • Creating a media budget and targeted social media campaign during the course of the internship program
  • Interviewing sources, researching, writing, and posting one feature story to the organization’s website every two weeks during the program, which includes promoting that story on social platforms to drive traffic to the site, and hopefully donations
  • Updating and managing other content on the organization’s website
  • Producing short-form videos for the website and social channels
  • Working with the intern manager on press releases, story ideation, and media relations
