Research Proposal
I. Introduction
A. Rhetorical Context and Situation
People’s health has been a major recurring issue within society, as people’s health is usually affected negatively based on the different foods and unhealthy toxins they consume. The level of concern about obesity and other major health issues has increased over time as exposure to unhealthy foods has increased all over the world. The general discussion of this argument will be on what society can do to avoid future health risks caused by foods and not having a healthy diet.
B. Research Question
My research question is, how can society improve its health by having a healthy diet and consuming the right foods and nutrients? In this argument, I’m trying to discover the different ways people can prevent having future health problems by living healthier. Two other questions to think about for my argument are, why is society more exposed to unhealthy foods? How can a people make a stand against exposure to unhealthy foods and make an effort to make equal opportunity in eating healthy foods in all areas of the world?
C. Current and Projected Discourse
My question is unique due to the fact that the topic isn’t brought up enough in society as it is not looked upon enough how certain foods are causing major health problems. Bringing up this argument would hopefully make an impact and a change against fast food and other unhealthy items that people consume.
II. Research Review
A. Similarities and Differences Between Sources
Some sources I chose to use mention how fast food can impact people’s health in a negative way, how to budget correctly so it is easy to afford healthier foods, how planting organic foods can help lower health concerns in food deserts, an exercise program, and a book about how to live healthier. These sources are all similar in the sense that they will encourage living a healthier lifestyle. The difference between the sources is that they mention different key details and ideas on how to prevent health concerns.
B. Expanding Upon and Synthesizing Arguments
I plan to build on these sources by explaining how they all relate and lead up and support my argument that change needs to be made against unhealthy foods and how they negatively impact people’s health. Some sources would be expanded on more than others but would all lead to the goal of being able to convince and open the eyes of the audience to spread awareness on the situation
III. Argumentative Approach and Design
A. Method and Approach to Argument
The approach I will be taking will be the classical approach to this argument. I plan to introduce the topic and then my side of the argument which will be backed up with evidence and resources and proof. I will then explain why my argument is more valid than other points that may be brought up.
B. Argumentative Structure and Major Claims\
Some claims I brainstormed are, exposure to fast food and other unhealthy foods is a major cause of unhealthy lifestyles that people live, depending on the choices people make you can live healthier it is all up to how you diet and what choices are made to take care of your own health.
C. Projected Limitations of Argument
Some limitations are choosing the right foods and the right way to diet correctly and how to start living healthier.
IV. Conclusion
A. Purpose and Working Thesis
The purpose in this argument is to bring awareness around the world and to help people all over the world realize that although it may seem hard to make a change and live healthier this argument is meant to show how to live better and healthier. Eating healthy and living healthy may sound like a hard thing to be able to do, but the reality of it is that there are many ways to work around living unhealthy. Whether you are exposed to only unhealthy foods to keep healthy and avoid health diseases the human body requires the right care.
