Next Year’s Words: May 20 Poetry Reading

I’ll be reading my poetry on Wednesday, May 20 at Next Year’s Words, a series in New Paltz at the Jewish Community Center hosted by Susan Chute (who writes the best introductions in the tri-state area) and co-coordinated by the excellent poet Tim Brennan.

There is a small donation to attend, and two featured poets per reading, with an open mic surrounding the features. Great poetry, snacks, and company!

From “Little Gidding” by T.S. Eliot

For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
But, as the passage now presents no hindrance
To the spirit unappeased and peregrine
Between two worlds become much like each other,
So I find words I never thought to speak
In streets I never thought I should revisit
When I left my body on a distant shore.
