To whom this concerns,

Before I took Writing and Rhetoric, I didn’t have a lot of interest in writing. I don’t think I put in as much effort as I should have in the past, which led to me writing essays and other papers that I weren’t really satisfied with.

Once I started taking Writing and Rhetoric I started learning a lot of techniques that can help massively to improve writing. I also learned MLA and how to write proper citations. As classes went on I feel that I was also managing to write longer essays than I ever had before. Not only did my essays have a higher wordcount, but there was also an overall increase in the quality of my writing due to what we were taught in class, as well as my grammar improving overall.

Understanding MLA was actually very important and helpful for some of my other classes this semester. Most of the classes I took had multiple writing assignments, some of which had word requirements of over a thousand. Normally, this would have been a lot scarier for me. However, after being able to practice writing every day and improve my writing, it was much easier for me. Having a proper understanding of MLA was basically required for all of my writing assignments because the professors expect you to cite evidence properly.

I feel that I have more confidence when it comes to any college-level writing. For example, when we were assigned our media review assignment, I was confident that I could produce a quality writing that would be able to meet the word count that the professor deemed appropriate.

I believe that some of my strengths in writing are the ability to write a clear and focused thesis, as well as the ability to properly structure my essays as well as being able to get a point across successfully. However, I am not perfect yet. I would say that some of my writing weaknesses would be proper citations and a proper understanding of MLA, as well as using correct in-text citations.

Regarding future college and professional writings, I am confident that I will be able to accomplish my goals. After participating in Writing and Rhetoric, I can say that I am much more open to the idea of writing than I ever was before. I am more confident when it comes to writing papers and important essays.
