Topic Proposal

 

For my topic proposal, I have decided to choose the benefits of hiking and how it can improve a person’s life. Some people may ask why I would choose hiking as my topic. The reason why I have chosen this topic is because hiking is a hobby that is very significant in my life. Ever since I was little, I enjoyed going outside and walking through nature. My love of exploration has taken me many places around the world, from Canada to the Caribbean. Seeing all the different kinds of landscapes and nature was fascinating to me and helped to increase my love for exploration and even going for the occasional walk to look at my surroundings. My love for hiking and exploration has only grown since I began attended SUNY New Paltz. Hiking has helped me improve my life and has made me live a healthier lifestyle. I would say that the audience I want to target are those who are looking for a hobby, or even just a form of exercise, and are struggling to find out ways of doing so. Going hiking is a very simple solution to these problems. I will admit that I do have certain biases relating to this topic because I am such a big fan of hiking. In my opinion, hiking can significantly improve a person’s life and make them happier and healthier overall. I think that I tend to look a lot more at the positives of hiking compared to the possible negatives, which can lead me to present biased opinions. I want my paper to convince people how great hiking really is, as well as encourage them to try it. Once people experience going out into nature and exploring, I believe that they will also share my feelings on the greatness of hiking. The benefits of hiking are also a huge bonus, and people who want to get into shape will also very likely be convinced to go out and get exercise. Getting exercise is also very important for multiple reasons. Exercising can make you healthier overall which can boost your confidence. Getting outside also gives you access to all kinds of different vitamins naturally. Being deficient of vitamins can have many different negative effects on your body. For example, having a lack of vitamin c in your system tends to make people feel more tired, even if they did not exert themselves whatsoever. Other signs that you do not have enough vitamins in your system include having brittle hair, hair loss, and many other negative side effects that most people would not want to experience in their life. That is why exercise is so very important. You need to exercise. I have multiple questions about my topic that I would like to have answered. For example, what are some other benefits of hiking that I had never thought of? Obviously going outside and getting exercise is very important, but there has to be other benefits that had not crossed my mind.
