Lambda Pi Eta is the NationalCommunication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. Lambda Pi Eta has more than 500 active chapters at colleges and universities nationwide.

Scholarships for the 2021-2022 Academic Year
This year the SUNY New Paltz Foundation awarded $1,200,000 in scholarships to more than 375 students—yet another record of total dollars awarded. Application for Scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year will open on March 1, 2022.
Scholarships are a great way to expand your opportunities at college without worrying about financial debt. It’s important to take full advantage of these scholarships so you are able to get a full and expansive education. There are plenty of unique and amazing scholarships available. If you are a Junior or Senior, it’s time to think about possibly joining the New Paltz chapter of Lambda Pi Eta – the National Communication Association’s Honor’s Society (Open to all majors in the Department of Communication and Department of Digital Media and Journalism). To qualify for membership in the Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, you must:
1) Be Junior or Senior within the Department of Communication or Department of Digital Media and Journalism.
2) Have an overall GPA of 3.25 AND a Major GPA of 3.5
To apply for membership in the Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, you will complete the 2022 Lambda Pi Eta Application. Once approved, you will be given instructions for online payment of the $52.50 membership fee which covers the graduation honor cord, lapel pin, certificate of achievement and lifetime membership in the honor society. Payment must be made by March 18, 2022 in order to receive the membership materials in time for graduation.

Stay tuned for the 2022 In-Person LPH Induction Ceremony (Sunday, May 1, 2022), where new members will be inducted and given an honor cord (to wear on their graduation gown), lapel pin and certificate of achievement. The event will be held in CSB Auditorium.

If you have written a top notch paper and have been encouraged to submit it to a conference or convention, then consider submitting it to the National Communication Association’s Annual Convention. You could also consider publishing that great paper in the Lambda Pi Eta Undergraduate Student Journal.
Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), Lambda Pi Eta has active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide. LPH represents what Aristotle described in The Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics. Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the communication discipline.
Transfer students, you should apply for internship eligibility once you have 30 New Paltz credits. Applying for internship eligibility means you must be approved to earn credits for any internship you complete, before you complete it. You must be certified as internship eligible at least one semester before you look for an internship placement, but you should do it as soon as you are eligible. Once you are certified as eligible, you remain eligible until you graduate, as long as your GPA does not fall below 2.5.
