For this project I would have my students submit a series of 3 or more images. I’d like my students to experiment with perception, scale, light, color, reflection/refraction, and texture.

The Pink Series by Student One:

The Pink Side

1-1

Artist statement: The cube represents humans and how we present ourself. The pink side is our true side which we only see when looking in the mirror.

Student uses a paper sculpture cube, with one side painted pink reflecting in a mirror to represent the side that no one sees.

Materials: Paper, paint, fishing line, and mirror.

Color Prison I

Artist Statement: The captivating glass prism looks great from afar; and that’s how it should be viewed. Get too close and you’ll be spit out.

Student experiments with colored glass, texture, and a clear triangular prism.

Materials: Sweatshirt, colored glass/plastic, glass prism.

After Night Glow

1-4

Artist Statement: The only colors you see for a while after a night out.

Student experiments with reflective material and colored glass/plastic .
