Dangers of fossil fuels
Humans have been polluting the world with fossil fuels for years and causing irreversible damage to the Earth and environment. Humans used fossil fuels for power and energy, but its slowly running out due to the long process it takes to make fossil fuels and the speed at which humans use fossil fuels. Along with this, fossil fuels themselves release large amounts of carbon dioxide and other pathogens into the atmosphere and into our earth. This is where renewable energy comes in, an energy source that has little to no emissions of carbon or greenhouse gases and is both used and replenished by the Earth. This might sound almost too good to be true, otherwise why wouldn’t we be utilizing it already? As we swiftly approach irreversible damage to our earth, environment, and atmosphere the questions about renewable energy become even more critical to consider. Renewable energy is now the only option for energy supply and fossil fuel usage should stop immediately if we are serious about protecting the health of our earth, environment, and future.
It’s no secret that fossil fuels produce dangerous emissions that harm our environment. However, the extent of this damage is often overlooked and not discussed in detail. Also overlooked is the very necessary switch to renewable energy. In this essay I will discuss both specifically why fossil fuels are so devastating to the environment with comprehensive examples, as well as introduce renewable energy. In further discussion, I will describe how renewable energy works, the benefits, and further enforce why It should be instated as our main source of energy. As stated in a study on renewable energy in place of fossil fuels in India, “ a shift from conventional to renewable sources of energy may help the natural environment by lessening the hampering effect of fossil fuels”(Javaid 1). With our growing population our increased need for energy makes sense, it was expected. Now we are exploring new options which are working in favor of the environment instead of against. This study overviews the journey of the shift in India’s socio-cultural environmental attitude. They then compare it to the environmental effects that took place after renewable energy was utilized. There is a clear path to a better and cleaner earth, one that slows climate change and all the other damage we’ve done. Renewable energy is the clear choice for our main energy source.
Fossil fuels aren’t the only thing causing harm to the environment, but they are the dominant cause of climate change and pollution. Seeing as people are still using fossil fuels today, we would need to start the change to renewable energy sooner rather than later to help fix our environment and try to reconnect with nature.
