Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization. Their mission is to empower those who identify as female to achieve economic independence. One way is by providing FREE professional attire. They have a local affiliate located right across the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie.
The Career Resource Center has partnered with this local affiliate as a referral agency. This means our office can complete the necessary form and schedule an appointment for our students who need their first business suit but do not have the funds to buy one. You will not be required to share any financial documents. Students will be fitted for FREE professional attire (that you can keep) by a volunteer career stylist during a one-on-one appointment following safety protocol. Simply schedule a VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT with a career coach in our office using their online calendars to be referred.
Dress for Success operates a boutique with women’s professional clothing in Poughkeepsie (and they also have a small selection of men’s suits at their Suited to Succeed program, which is just a few blocks away). Check out our own Barbara Baker-Pena (class of 2021) talking with Robin Blue-Brown, Program Director at Dress for Success Dutchess County on IGTV. They discuss what you’ll experience when visiting the boutique and offer some wonderful tips on making an outfit look professional while infusing your own style. After you give a listen, we hope you will request a referral from the Career Resource Center for your own FREE styling session with this wonderful organization.
