International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), home to a passionate community of global educators who believe in the power of technology to transform teaching and learning, accelerate innovation and solve tough problems in education.
ISTE inspires the creation of solutions and connections that improve opportunities for all learners by delivering: practical guidance, evidence-based professional learning, virtual networks, thought-provoking events and the ISTE Standards.
In this poster presentation at ISTE 2019, Kiersten Greene (Associate Professor
of Literacy Education at SUNY New Paltz) reports on a research study conducted over the last academic year (2018-2019) that investigates how teacher educators across the country are integrating technology in teacher preparation. Through this work with Dr. Greene, Liz learned the fundamentals of research work, transcribing, coding, and so much more. Click here to view Dr. Greene’s ISTE Poster!
Thanks to Dr. Greene, SUNY New Paltz, and the NYTeach grant we were able
to make the trip out to Philly for the ISTE conference together! We visited lots of different PD sessions like the ClassTechTips session with Monica Burns, the MainStage Sessions, BrainPOP session, and so much more.
We also visited the
Apple Pop-UP Classroom where we learned movie making, coding, AR/VR, music, drawing, and photography. Even got the chance to sit in the NASA Maker Space Playground Sky Dome where we traveled to other planets. We also had the opportunity to play with robots, coding, and sustainable seating at the NYSCATE
& PAECT: Explore the NY and PA Affiliates! We also spent lots of time learning about new tech tools through the expo enter. We played with robots like Sphero and Dash & Dot, Interactive panels, AR, VR, and more!
She was recently featured in a SUNY New Paltz News article titled “Education majors lead movement to unlock potential of new K-12 technology,” for her efforts in Educational Technology for Teacher Preparation.
