BGCNW

GREAT FUTURES START HERE.

Over 750 kids come through our club doors each day to learn, explore, grow, play, eat and BE GREAT. At the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, kids ages 3 – 18 take part in vital programming through which they develop confidence, strong study habits, leadership skills, a sense of civic duty and long-lasting friendships. Through mentoring by club staff and community volunteers, they learn how to be the best they can be!

Brain Gain 2019

Summer Brain Gain at BGCNW is comprised of one-week themes with fun, themed activities for elementary school children. This summer, I created a Magic Tree House edition of Brain Gain! Each week we travel as a club to different countries across the world through the magic tree house series books, we complete crafts, and enjoy Food Fridays where we taste each countries cuisine! Brain Gain takes a project-based learning approach: youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work and a final project or production. As a result, kids develop higher-order thinking skills through the Summer Brain Gain while staying on track for the coming school year.

Art 2018-2019

This program encourages artistic expression among Club members ages 6-18 through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture, while providing opportunities for members to create artwork for display in a local exhibit. Winners advance to the regional and national level for awards.

Minds and Motion 2016

Minds in Motion gives students the opportunity to collaboratively write, storyboard, direct, and produce an original stop-motion animated film. The curriculum creatively integrates elements of science, technology, math, language arts, and the arts into a dynamic project-based learning experience led by our animators-in-residence. The program takes place in fourth grade classrooms throughout Westchester County, and culminates in a red carpet premiere of student films at the JBFC Theater. Student films created in Minds in Motion have been screened at film festivals all over the world.
