Over the course of writing this essay, my biggest issues were comma splices and sticking to the rhetorical situation. Whilst writing this early on, I would see a comma splice as a regular sentence and not realize that it would be considered two separate ideas. None of my previous English teachers have marked me so heavily for such. I could not imagine such a thing could develop so recently. During my revisions, I paid close attention to what is considered a clause and where they need to be separated. During my revisions, I also had an issue with following the rhetorical situation. Often while writing, I would find it very challenging to intertwine the question “what is childhood for?”. Finding usable sources was very difficult. Which I suspect is due to the Wii being only 16 years old. As opposed to something like rubber ducks which have been around for the span of at least a century. There were no sources that directly related to childhood and the Wii. I had to relate the two myself often throughout the essay. In parts of the essay, it seemed to more turn into a research essay on the Wii rather than discuss what childhood is for. Outside of English class, there are always places where these skills can transfer over. Research for one is always valuable. As a computer repair technician, I have to research daily, scouring through articles, forums, documentation, and videos to help me figure out how to solve the issue at hand.
