Limnologist
Dr. Pollard earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Limnology. Dr. Pollard is currently a limnologist (scientist who studies freshwater like streams, rivers, and lakes) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.¹
Dr. Pollard leads the U.S. EPA National Lakes Assessment, a large effort across federal, state, and tribes to evaluate the health of lakes around our nation.² The resulting dataset is a coordinated effort and publicly available collection of biological, chemical, physical, and human use data over decades.³
Dr. Pollard was the first African American plenary speaker for the Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO)⁴ an international scientific society. Dr. Pollard currently sits on the ASLO board of directors⁵, and serves as a scientific advisor for the Canadian Lake Pulse Project.⁶
