Reflective Cover Letter

Getting ready to get some hard work done
Dear eportfolio reader,
Welcome to my eportfolio!
Before this course I felt that writing was not particularly important to me and that was mainly because I landed in a career field that didn’t really require me to write often. But after taking this course I have learned how to write in the proper way. One of the most important skills I have been taught in Composition 1 is how to clearly organize my ideas. I noticed that early in the course my writing ideas were scrambled, but this course made it easy to learn methods of reorganizing and correcting my writing.
Composition 1 helped me change the way I edit and outline my papers. Coming into this course, I believed that making a one-time revise was all I needed. The course and Professor Rigolino showed me multiple revisions can make a big difference on the final product. for some assignments, I was coming up with three or more drafts. The change in my outlining skills helped with the quality of my writing, as well as, organizing my thoughts more clearly and concisely. This course helped me with ways to fix the disorganization and my writing now has better flow.
I feel the most successful aspects of my main course assignments were language use and clarity in reaching my audience. The language I used seemed comfortable for anyone at any level to read and understand my points. With the adjustment to my language, it made reaching my audience easier. I wrote to make things as clear as I could so the audience could grasp my ideas and understand where I am coming from. If I were to make more revisions, I would focus more on my sources and citing them. Using more and or better sources may have helped me piece the writing together. For example, the writing in my persuasive essay could have had more sources that were focused more on younger students and their interactions with the internet.
This was my first time making a digital portfolio and with that I have learned so much. Everything from organizing it into the portfolio and the programs to use. Knowmia was a user-friendly resource and it made creating the final presentation easy. This course guided me on how to use everything and how to put it all together.
If I were to move on to ENG170/Writing & Rhetoric, I feel the skills I learned in Composition 1 would able me to compose more academic based papers. The information provided touched on the most important parts in college level writing and Professor Rigolino did a great job explaining it all. After taking this course, I feel much more confident in my writing. I’m confident I could use the skills I learned in higher level academic courses. The instruction I was given helped my writing greatly with things like organization. Composition 1 was a great course!
I have not been able to take my new writing concepts to other classes or situations yet, but I do have public speaking coming up next and I can’t wait to apply what I have learned to that class as well.
Thank you for visiting my eportfolio!
Sincerely,
Domenic Bellacicco
