Aptheker, Bettina. The Morning Breaks : the Trial of Angela Davis . First edition.,

International Publishers, 1975.

Summary: The Morning Breaks is about Angela Davis, an African American woman that went to trial for a crime that she did not commit. She was on the FBI’s most wanted list and ran for a couple of years till she was captured in New York City(Aptheker). It talks about how she was charged with murder, conspricacy, and kidnapping (Aptheker). The book highlights the different and important parts in her trial and her time in jail. It shows all the mistreatment she went through in her time. The Morning Break  is still a relevant book today because it shows institutional racism (Aptheker).

Reflection: I would use this source in my research because Angela Davis is known because she accused of something she did not do. So talking about the trail would show all the unfortunate treatment she had to go through over some crime she did not commit. This will help me shape my argument to Ms. DuVarney that she should make a movie about Angela Davis because it would show all the events of her time in jail that would be good things to show in the movie. It also will show how helpful it would show the racism in the justice system in history and how it is still the way it is today.

Angela Davis Addresses an Audience in Moscow ca. 1972 . WPA Film Library,,

1971.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24iCqYQPePA

Summary: Angela Davis addresses Moscow is a film where Angela Davis addressed how she will be part of the communist party and how she is continuing to be apart of the Communist Party. Angela Davis was an activist during the Civil Rights movement. In 1972 she was on the FBI’s most wanted list and was charged with murder and kidnapping because she was in the commusit party. In 1972 she addressed the city of Moscow continuing her activism. Davis became a big part of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee or the SNCC. She explains her time throughout the trial and thanks everyone who helped her become free. Davis also received The Lenin Centenary Medal, she was the first foreigner of the  Soviet Young Communist League to receive the badge.

Reflection: I can use this in my research because it shows the time after her trial and it shows how influential she was even after she was in prison. This will help me shape my argument because it can show Ms. DuVernay that she is still a relevant person even after. I will use this source in my essay as a point to show Ms. DuVernay she should make a movie about Angela  Davis.
