For the last several years, automobile companies have begun developing new types of cars: electric cars. The main goal of development is to help stop the downfall of our environment and help conserve the natural resources that we use everyday for survival. Electric cars are said to help reduce air pollution as well as serve as a greener alternative to gas or diesel vehicles. Although electric cars cost more than gas powered vehicles, individuals should strongly consider investing in one because they are better for the air we breathe, have low maintenance requirements, and reduce the emissions that contribute to climate change.
The proposed research topic I have chosen is the effect of electric cars on our environment and the changes they can make that make them better than gas run vehicles. Development of electric cars has me proposing some important research questions regarding battery life such as: How effective and functional are the batteries that run these cars? Do these cars still function correctly during extreme weather circumstances? This is something important to take into consideration especially for people who travel far distances often for work, school etc. As I continue to research this topic, I am going to specifically focus on finding answers to these questions as they are very important to me. By answering these questions I will not only help myself gain knowledge about electric cars, but also help others become more knowledgeable.
This topic is not one that I was knowledgeable about at all truly, until I came across an article on General Motors. It was then that I realized how big of an impact these electric cars are making on our world. I was aware of their existence but wasn’t aware of how often they are seen on the road and the many companies that have invested in these types of cars. According to General Motors they are on their way to an all electric future by 2025 in hopes of making a true impact on the climate change problem. This article really motivated me to research electric cars more especially as I am now a licensed driver. The more often electric vehicles are seen on the roads, the closer we are to making a big positive impact on climate change and bettering our environment, something that is very important to do.
This issue is very important to research. People need to be aware that electric cars are the future and they are a step to helping the betterment of our environment. Since they run on batteries, we are eliminating the burning of fossil fuels and helping the conservation of our natural resources that we need to survive. This situation affects us all. The environment and us as humans. If people don’t decide to begin investing in electric cars, then our environment will continue to deteriorate and we will continue to run out of natural resources such as fossil fuels. It is important to research this topic greatly to help others come see that the positives of these electric vehicles outweigh the negatives.
After researching this topic I now know a lot about it. I know the benefits that they have to our environment such as reducing the emissions that contribute to climate change, reducing the threat on petroleum since they run on batteries, and However, there are still things that I am not aware of. I am eager to learn about the price that these cars cost. Will they be affordable for all people or cost more than standard gas/ diesel vehicles do? Cost is often an important factor one must take into consideration when looking to invest in something new.
