Webinar watching event: “Tibetan Refugees, Migration, and Anthropologists in the Courtroom”

The Department of Anthropology and Anthropology Club are co-hosting a webinar-watching event entitled “Tibetan Refugees, Migration, and Anthropologists in the Courtroom.” With Anthro faculty present and pizza to munch on (with veggie option), we’ll watch a live conversation between anthropologists Ken Guest and Carole McGranahan. Carole McGranahan will discuss her research with the Tibetan community about their experiences of migration, asylum, and citizenship. Through a combination of ethnographic participant-observation and interviews with oral histories and archival research, McGranahan’s work has led her to being of service to these communities, serving as an expert witness for several hundred political asylum cases for Tibetan and Nepali applicants.

The event takes place on Wednesday, October 18 at 3:00 pm in Wooster 363 (the Visual Culture lab). Come by to say hello and stay for as long as your schedule permits. If you can’t make it in person but would like to see the event, you can do that via the link provided.
