Our Daily Bread: Inside the Commercial Bakeries of Ancient Rome
Dr. Farrell Monaco, a Roman archaeologist and award-winning food-writer whose research centers on food, food production, and food-related ceramics in the ancient Mediterranean will explain the archaeological discoveries of commercial bakeries in the Roman world and the tools they used in these spaces to feed an empire. Following her presentation, Dr. Monaco will teach participants how to make grape must cakes, an ancient Roman recipe that will be shared with attendees before the talk if they would like to bake along with her. Come learn how to snack like a Caesar!
