Duties: The Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology to begin in Fall of 2020. Preference will be given to applicants with a specialization in sensation and perception. Standard course load in the department is 3/3 and includes both undergraduate and Master’s level courses. Courses to be taught include Psychology of Perception and some of the following: Psychology of Learning, Cognitive Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Introductory Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods, as well as other topics related to the candidate’s research interests.
Other duties include advising students, mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research, and participating in departmental and college service. Candidates are expected to develop an independent and productive research program and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications: A PhD in Psychology or closely related field is required. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date prior to 8/1/2020 will be considered. Strong candidates must be committed to excellent teaching and demonstrate potential for research productivity, particularly involving student research collaborators.
